Why fact families help

Six, nine and fifteen make four facts: 6 + 9, 9 + 6, 15 − 6 and 15 − 9. A child who sees that link has one thing to remember in place of four, and subtraction stops being a separate subject.

Family House comes in at a slightly higher level, since it needs subtraction. Children meet it in the game when they're ready. You can also go straight to one family: try 6, 9, 15 or browse them all.
