Make the facts quick, not just right

A sheet shows what a child knows today. Fast recall comes from short practice over many days, and that's what the game is for. After a sheet, try the addition game, or lock it to the group you printed, like make 10 or doubles.

Questions

How many facts should a child do at once?

Less than you'd think. One sheet of a focused group beats three of everything. Pick the group they're working on, not all the facts to 20.

Are timed tests a good idea?

Used lightly, as a child's own score to beat, they can be fun. If timing makes a child anxious, drop the timer and keep the sheet. See our guide to fluency.

Is Sumtown really free?

Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. All fourteen mini games are in it. An iPhone app is on its way, and you can read what it will add.

An app is on its way

We're building a Sumtown app for iPhone with the parts that need a real app: offline play for car rides, a town map that remembers how far your child got, and a parent report on every fact. Until then, the whole game is free right here.
